A big THANK YOU to all of you who came down to our Barbican show last night with Glenn..WE SOLD IT OUT AGAIN. HUZZAH!
You really haven't lived unless you've seen 300 people doing the YMCA dance sitting in front of a terrible movie. It was the hottest day in the UK since 1976 and we thought everybody would be down the pub instead of coming down to watch a bad movie, but like Costner said "if you build it, they will come", and it was one of the best film clubs we have done in a long time.
Thanks to Glenn, thanks to the bad film posse, but most of all, thank you the GENIUS that thought up The Village People.
We all had a fantastic time and now it's all systems go for the next one....
see you in October

and remember NOBODY CAN STOP THE MUSIC! Sun, Jul. 16th, 2006, 02:56 pm glum..
Last night I was in the kitchen and I could hear a guitar being played so i went into the back bedroom and had a look out of the open window. The house opposite had some friends over and they had lit a fire in the back garden and were just sitting around, having some drinks, playing the guitar and just enjoying the balmy summers evening.
It made me feel sad. I sometimes wish that my friends didn't live so far away, that I knew more people with my interests closer to me, people who when I say, "hey, lets light a fire and just have some drinks in my garden tonight" won't go "I have to be up early for a presentation" or "let's go to a generic bar and a meal instead" or "why are you so odd".
I miss being around other creative people sometimes, I miss being around my friends and it makes me feel sad that nobody is close enough to me to enjoy a balmy summers evening chillin out. Sun, Jun. 11th, 2006, 12:32 pm reunion
Should I go to my 10th year University reunion?
Angels do walk among us.
Yesterday was a bit of a panic, about an hour before the shops closed I realised that I didn't have our laser pointers (a major part of the film club as we need to point things out at the screen). I remember my bag falling open in the back of Joe's car on the way back from London so I assume they fell out there. The only problem was, Joe was spending the weekend in Cornwall and I was doing the show with guest host Christian Reilly!
Frantically I went around every gadget shop and office supply store I could find, all telling me that they had sold out of them or they didn't stock them. 4 O'clock came, no laser pointers.
When I got back to my flat, I remembered that I bought a laser pointer back in 1998 when I was in LA. Now, I'm the kind of a gal that doesn't throw anything away, so I frantically scrambled and I found it YAY! Only the batteries were D E A D. The thing about laser pointers is that they take those tiny hearing aid batteries, not that common in your local news agents, DAMN IT, so close and yet so far away.
On the way to the gig I stopped off at the Chemist, I thought, If anybody was going to sell hearing aid batteries it was going to be these guys, so I went in, all sad of face and said, "do you sell hearing aid batteries?" and they said.....no. I was defeated.
Now, you hear tales on the news of how we, as a society, are becoming more and more selfish, how we are losing the ability to be compassionate and considerate. Well, last night I met an angel, a real guardian angel, I had one of those "It's a wonderful life" moments that we all yearn for. As I turned to walk out of the shop, the pharmacists behind the counter said, "what kind of batteries"? I showed her an example, she reached into her bag and pulled out a pack of 6 batteries with the words, "Here, you can have my hearing aid batteries, I get them free from the hospital anyway". I offered her money for them and she declined. It was as if fate itself guided me into that chemist and for that I am most grateful.
So, thank you my deaf angel, you saved my bacon, and my show.

We did our sold out show at The Barbican on Thursday and it was one of the best times we've had at a bad film club! If you were at the show, thank you for taking part, shouting at the screen, heckling and even managing to get in the phrase "weak lemon drink" for the benefit of Stewart.
The last week or so was a bit mental, we popped up in The Guardian, Time Out, The Times and even The New Statesman! All of which we found rather hillarious considering we are nothing more than a pair of two bit pikey chancers.
The people at The Barbican have invited us back to do some more shows later in the year, but if you can't wait that long, come down and see us at the Red Rose Comedy Club in Islington on May 20th. Sat, Apr. 29th, 2006, 02:25 pm going out
Went out with Brendon and the lovely people at the glee club again last night, I really like the guys and gals at the Glee in Cardiff, they are really friendly and fuzzy. Dave Ingram came down to play on Thrusday but he had to get back to Bolton because he's a fool, a fool with girl's hair and sunglasses that don't work. I also met Reginald D Hunter for the first time and he was also very nice and a very accomplished hugger. so, all in all, had a very nice time. However, I didn't get back to my flat till 4.30 this morning. ooooops. I have devised a new car game for driving home late at night, it's called "middle of the on the road", the rules to "middle of the on the road" is to press the forward button on your radio until it lands on a station. The game is you have to time how long it takes for one of them to play a Phil Colins or Elton John song, then sing loudly along with the "music" replacing all the words with "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH". best time so far was 1 second! longest time so far 17 mins. But last night I found an Elton John song after about 2mins, then once it finished i went forward to the next station and they were playing another one! Let me know your best times lol
It's cold here, it's miserable and I would MUCH rather be in Melbourne. The UK SUCKS in March.
Anyway, on a different note, Joe and I are trying to get things together for our big fancy pants gig with Stewart (you said egg) Lee on May 4th. We are debating on whether we should wear uber fancy pants or not, want to put Joe in a tux and me in one of them shiny posh shawls. I know we would find it funny and all of our friends would find it funny, but we don't know as if the lard dee dar people of The Barbican would "get it".
Saying that, they've been super nice to us, asking if we need anything, letting us know who to talk to about stuff, layouts etc, we have a press person how super cool is that! They've even put a special promo code on the tickets so if you call them up and say "WEBNJ" they'll give you the conc. price which is nice of them.
Found another birthday card today, it's odd, my birthday was over 2 weeks ago now and i don't really remember much about it, doesn't really feel like I've had a birthday. I realise that stuff that happened was way, way more important and life changing than me turning 32, but it's left me with a kind of dangling feeling about the whole thing, odd, just very, very odd.
I should get back to doing some more work I guess.
See ya
Nicko x Sun, Apr. 9th, 2006, 08:18 am SICK
Was thinking last night as I lay awake, waiting for my gastric flu to settle down, that the worst way to die would be to throw up your own pancreas.
Then i thought, if i was ever attacked by a bear and given one of those death hugs if I would feel conflicted at any time? "aaaarrggg, a bear, a big bear is about to hug me to death....but awwwww he's so furry and cuddly....aaaarrrgg I can feel my eyes poping out of my head and my liver just exploded......awwww it's like cuddling a big fury blanket.
I think i'd better get back to bed

Mon, Mar. 27th, 2006, 05:48 pm A Sad Day...
My mum just got off the phone, my Grandfather - Grampa Ron - just passed away.
He was my dad's, dad, and one of the nicest, kindest men you'll ever want to meet and I will always remember him for his quirkiness and his need to give me the most random of things....a kilo of chocolates, one of twelve kettles, strange German cooking equipment.
On a positive note, it was his birthday yesterday and I went down to pay him a visit, he was his full of beans, laughing and joking, asking me if I had enough random stuff in my flat and very excited about the prospect of having a tweety bird cake for his tea. So, with it being his birthday AND mothers day, he got to see all of his family before he died and the bit of peace we have is that we all got to say goodbye to him before he left us.
It's a sad day. We're going to miss him very much...but not as much as QVC will :-)
